Julie Bradley, work in progress

Julie Bradley, work in progress

… I speak with Julie Bradley.  Julie is a visual artist.  Just before this interview Julie completed a residency at the Australian Tapestry Workshop in South Melbourne, Australia.  Julie spent several weeks at the Workshop creating four of her beautiful, rich, multi-layered works.

Julie’s work

Julie has a stunning body of work and has recently held several shows around Australia.

Julie uses the techniques of stenciling, collage and drawing to chronicle and explore her experience of the world – she’s heavily influenced by nature and mythology.

Julie’s work is held in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, the Australian National University, Canberra Museum and Gallery, the University of Canberra Collection, Bundanon Trust and the Lu Rees Archive. You can find out more about Julie’s work at her website.  You can read about the artist-run initiative M16 Artspace by visiting their website too.

About this conversation

Julie & I spoke on a quiet Friday morning at her studio apartment in South Melbourne, just around the corner from the Workshop.  Quite frankly, I didn’t want to stop talking with Julie – I love her ideas around art and life and I hope you enjoy this talk as much as I did.
